Confidentiality

 

Whatever is shared with the therapist is considered private and strictly confidential.  Canadian confidentiality guidelines are in effect. Your information will not be shared with anyone else.  Web-cam chats will not be recorded and any notes will be kept in a locked bureau.  In addition, your email address will not be distributed to anyone. Online sessions are totally safe and secure.

The only time a therapist may breach this confidentiality would be in the following rare situations:

* You the client gave written permission to do so.

* You were believed to be a threat to yourself or someone else.

* The therapist is summoned to appear in court.

* Therapists are required by law to report any suspected child abuse to the proper authorities.
